Seaside School District Food Services is happy to announce all enrolled students receive a FREE healthy breakfast and lunch for the 2024-25 school year due to our participation in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). Families do not need to fill out or submit an application for free or reduced-price meals at this time thanks to our district-wide CEP status. All Seaside School District students are automatically enrolled in this program. Access to nutritious meals is a crucial component of student success and well-being, and we are thrilled to be able to take advantage of this opportunity on behalf of our students.
The Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) is a non-pricing meal service option for schools and school districts in low-income areas. CEP allows the nation’s highest poverty schools and districts to serve breakfast and lunch at no cost to all enrolled students without collecting household applications. Instead, schools that adopt CEP are reimbursed using a formula based on the percentage of students categorically eligible for free meals based on their particiapation in other specific means-tested programs, such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF).
This does not, however, make families in our District eligible for discounted utilities, internet, and other programs that require a Free and Reduced Meal determination letter. If you are interested in qualifying, please fill out the Family Income Survey Form, and we can help you obtain the necessary documents. Please note that we will mail out letters in August for any directly certified families which than may assist with reduced fees for other school programs and/or can be used to show eligibility for other assistance programs in the community.
